The 12th Annual Stewart State Forest Bike Tour, formerly called Bike the Buffer,
This is the only ride to benefit SPARC, the Stewart Park and Reserve Coalition (SPARC), an all-volunteer citizens organization created over 20 years ago to protect the Stewart Airport buffer lands, and preserve them for future generations. This goal was achieved in late 2005, when SPARC's long legal action resulted in about 7000 acres put into protection to create Stewart State Forest, managed by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
Today SPARC continues to act as watchdog and advocate, monitoring the Unit Management Plan development, along with local issues impacting the lands, and the surrounding environs. SPARC depends on member support and volunteer leadership to continue its work. We invite you to learn more and join us as a member!
